The demands on a working family put time and convenience at a premium. In designing the Transitional Profession Live Kitchen, we wanted to demonstrate that a well-designed kitchen is not only beautiful, but can also make life just a bit easier.
From an aesthetic perspective, the strong, wide Shaker styling of the Hartford and Middleton door styles marry well with the bold appliance styling. The granite with its bold active patterns, the organic nature of the Thai Mango glass inserts, and the tile inserts compliment the cabinet and appliance styles.
The transition from the traditional to modern styles was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe. Industrial, bold and strong lines add a cool side that complements the warmth of the rich colors, curved lines, and organic shapes. Adding architectural interest are various heights and depths used with a mixed color scheme.
True to the Modernist credo, “form follows function,” this kitchen features a Wolf six burner range top, warming drawer, single oven and built-in microwave to satisfy both the gourmet cook and a child who wants a grilled cheese sandwich. Other beautiful and functional appliances include the Best chimney ventilation with a 1200 CFM external blower, Bosch dishwasher, and the Sub-Zero refrigerator. Faucets, both pot-filler and primary, are Grohe K4’s in stainless steel.
This is a favorite direction for many professionals that want it all, respectively.
